How come when i express my beliefs everyone thinks i worship satan?

Being an eclectic neo pagan, i worship a variety of deities yet whenever i talk about it they say i worship satan. WHY? Do christians know pagans were around about 3000 years before them?!!?! not including deities that have been created as far back as 8000 years ago? How is that satan worshipping?
