How can I better organize my programming club?

having such a large group of people working on *a* software application is probably not a good idea. having a group of 3-4 highly competent programmers is good for developing large programs. if you're getting together just for the sake of programming, then why not just program together? it can be pretty fun to be in a group of people. i reckon you can learn (i assume this is for the sake of improving programming skill) easily by becoming interested in what other people are working on, and contributing ideas to it. the advantage of this is that nobody really feels forced to use a specific language or write a specific program - they only work on things that interest them.
